Summer integrative rehabilitation and health camp in Valdai

The summer camp is a model of inclusion of special-needs children in the world around us. During all the camp shifts, speech therapists, pathologists, neuro-psychologists are working with the children. There are group lessons, game therapy, fun hikes and day trips. But the most important thing is that children with disabilities are among healthy children - their brothers and sisters, children of the staff and volunteers.

Thus, the conditions in the camp allow our pupils to expand their life experience, get new impulses to development and thus increase their chances of joining in normal social life. Social and psychological adaptation of parents of the "special" children takes place simultaneously. They find themselves in the friendly atmosphere of acceptance of their children in the camp, they can get experts’ consultations, share experiences with other parents, and receive psychological training.

The program is conducted by our partner, the Center for Curative Teaching, on the territory of the former pioneer camp in the Valdai region, near Novgorod.

The programme “Communication Space”

This program involves creation and development of a model of living together for teenagers and young people with multiple disabilities. We run this program in partnership with the "The Road to the World" charity foundation.

Each week of the academic year, teachers bring teenagers and young people with multiple disabilities (without parents) to the Rodnichok Center just outside Moscow for four days. These four days are organized on a schedule that involves training in the skills of daily living (including the skills of cooking, cleaning, self-service, etc.) and provide ample opportunities for communication (including teaching communication using gestures, pictograms, or an electronic communicator).

The program is also aimed at strengthening the parent community, providing social and psychological support to families with children with disabilities of all ages, including newborns, who are in need of a space for communication, education and recreation. There are also plans to offer training programs for parents living in Moscow, in the Moscow Region and other regions across Russia.
