JUNE 19: WE VISITED THE "RESPUBLIKA DRUG" (FRIEND REBULIC) CENTER FOR REHABILITATION OF HOMELESS ANIMALS

It is an amazing foster home for animals with severe injuries and hereditary, genetic diseases. It is located in the suburban Chernogolovka and has existed for more than 13 years.
Here we met a real hero - the dog Kukla, who managed to survive during the fighting in the DPR. A fragment of the bomb injured her face, and kind people, who have true mercy to all the sufferers, helped her survive. The volunteers took Kukla together with a hundred other animals to the Donetsk "Pif" shelter first, and then to Moscow.
Each resident of the "Respublika Drug" has its own complicated story, and there are more than 60 of them. The staff of the shelter cures and nurses the wards, so that these animals, that had tough time, could hope for finding home and loving owners. This shelter is a unique place, specializing in working with sick animals. It can be called a pioneer in this direction in Russia. There are own medical exploratory studies, professionals who constantly study foreign experience and adapt it.
One can notice caring attitude towards pets even in details. Two types of grass grow outside: one is for playing, and the second is sedge for a good digestion, which the animals eagerly eat. A special coating of liquid floors has been developed for animals with disabilities: non-slippery, and not too rough. Volunteers teach injured animals how to use wheelchairs, and they run on two of their wheels faster than a racing car.
We went to the "Respublica Drug" not only to visit its wards, but also to invite to cooperation within the framework of the forthcoming Zoo Forum ProZoo. We also want to help the orphanage with the publication of methodological recommendations, so that as many as possible animal advocates could get acquainted with the positive experience of the shelter.

JUNE 14:TODAY IS THE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF BLOOD DONOR

Donor movement is the first program that was organized by our fund, and it has existed for more than 7 years.
Today we say thank you to the employees of the health care system who help us in organizing the events, institutions that are always open to holding donor events , and, of course, donors who are ready to share their blood with those who need it.
5 facts about the blood:
● It is said that the blood of the first group with a positive Rh factor is more common in the world, but in it is the second group.
● The hiuman body contains about 4.5-5.5 liters of blood. And with each donation, the donor gives away about a tenth of the amount - 450 ml. Scientists have calculated that over the course of your life your heart pumps more than 175 million liters of blood.
● One unit of blood can be used for several people. This is possible due to the separation of blood into various components. The patient will be given only the part that he needs.
● Donation helps fight thrombosis. Increased blood viscosity, leading to the formation of blood clots, is one of the problems solved by regular donations.
● A person who has donated blood 40 times or plasma 60 times, becomes an honorable donor of Russia and receives various benefits: free travel on public transport, a discount for housing and communal services, the right to free treatment with prosthetic dentists and annual payments.

JUNE 8: IMPROVEMENT OF THE METHODOLOGY AS THE WAY OF DEVELOPMENT OF THE "SCHOOL OF CHARITY. LIFESTYLE"

Every lesson in the “School of Charity. Lifestyle "is dedicated to a specific topic. The range of questions and the form of teaching depend on the age of the children. For example, for babies we choose relationships with parents, help friends, relatives, animals. Classes for preschoolers include a puppet show, discussion and drawing. The project coordinator Aliya Martynova told about the importance of choosing right props for the performance: "Children get to know the world through sensations. They want to touch and touch everything. At one of the last lessons we talked with the guys about etiquette. The main character of the fairy tale is a crow who did not want to say "please." In the original version she was taught politeness by another crow, but we chose a squirrel. First, another animal is a game of contrast. Secondly, the crow is made of rubber, while the squirrel is soft and fluffy, it is associated with something kind, pleasant. This character is very memorable for children. The girls even wanted to kiss the squirrel, leave it to themselves. But this is an artist! It is necessary to choose the right characters, otherwise the performance will not give the effect that is necessary for the morality tale. "

JUNE 7: MEETING WITH VOLUNTEERS OF ANIMAL PROTECTION

We are beginning an active preparation for the second ProZoo forum. On June 6, at the initiative of Elena Ivanova, an expert of the Commission on Environmental Policy of Moscow City Duma, we had a meeting with volunteers from municipal and private Moscow animal shelters. Director of the "Lifestyle" fund Elena Beregovaya told about public control in the sphere of animal protection. Public control began to develop in Russia not so long ago. In 2014, Federal Law No. 212-FL was issued, under which non-profit organizations and ordinary citizens can verify the implementation of laws and regulations in various municipal institutions, if the state body initiates the audit. The auditor introduces his proposals for solving the problems. One-time visit can go to the form of constant monitoring, when the inspector systematically visits the organization and notes what changes have occurred since the previous inspection. In the sphere of animal protection, public control is at an extremely low level. The reasons for this situation lie in the lack of awareness of the public, the low level of legal literacy of activists, the lack of unity in the actions of animal rights activists. At the same time, public controllers have much more rights and opportunities to solve problems than individual activists. Helen Beregovaya explained the volunteers how they can enter the groups of public controllers, how to properly inspect, what to look for, what documents regulate this activity, provided information sources for additional information. Following the results of the meeting, we decided to introduce the public control in animal protection theme to the ProZo zoo forum, which will be held in November 2017.

JUNE 1: THE VOLUNTEER TEACHERS TALKING ABOUT THE "SCHOOL OF CHARITY. LIFESTYLE" PROJECT

"Over the past 18 years, I have never encountered volunteering and charity. And in general I thought that there are no beings on Earth who need my help. In fact, there is a state with its social projects, and there are charitable foundations that professionally help the needy. All of a sudden when I was studying at the university I was offered to give several lessons at an elementary school on this topic. I agreed without thinking because it was an extra teaching practice! With every lesson I digged more and more into this space of reasoning about mercy, help, good and evil. Responded together with the children on such, one would think, not at all childish questions: Why should we help others? How to do it right? What can I personally do, being so small in such a huge world, with a limited amount of time and money? When a student of one of the classes that passed our full course said: "It is necessary to help others, so that there is no war," I finally understood the real purpose of these lessons. And I learned the importance of every volunteer who takes part in this project. If out of 30 people we work with, at least one will really understand - this is already a big deal, which will necessarily lead to a chain of good deeds! " Irina Bystrova, 2nd year student of MPSU Childhood Institute The "School of Charity. Lifestyle " project covers a wide audience of people from 5 to 24 years old. The training programs are formed taking into account the age peculiarities of children and young people. Students are involved in the project as volunteer teachers. They give classes for children from middle and elementary schools, they talk about charity, teach simple kinds of help to a neighbor or even a relative, help to make the world a better place with the help of small but no less important deeds. Our teaching volunteers are students of the Moscow State Pedagogical University and Moscow State Pedagogical University. We are open to cooperation with other universities and students personally!

MAY 30: THE PROJECTS DEFENCE AT «YUZHNOE BUTOVO»

Last week, the next training course of the PROFLAB course was completed in Moscow. This is the only practice-oriented program in Russia for employees of the centers of family education aid and of ophranages for children with HIA. On May 25, the event on defence of graduate projects of the specialists from «Yuzhnoe Butovo» TSSSV took place. The "PROFLAB" was attended by 50 employees of the center, at the moment it is the largest group for the history of the course. More than 500 people work in the "Yuzhnoe Butovo" TSSSV, and 327 children live there. These are orphans, as well as children from Moscow families who, for health reasons, are on a five-day form of stay or attend day care. Irina Moiseyeva, deputy director of the educational work of the "Yuzhnoe Butovo" TSSSV, notes: «Together with the reform of the system, the transformation of the orphanage into a Сenter of Assistance to family education, there have been changes in our institution. Those children, who used to be in the charity department, are now in intensive care groups, where the emphasis is on the development of the child, his skills of self-service, communication and perception. The teachers have been working in a new way only for three years in this department. And we did not have any assistants before, only ward nurses. Accordingly, the staff needed to be trained specifically for effective ways of interaction and corrective-developing care when working with this category of children. This course was necessary as the breath of one's nostrils." On May 25, in the center of "Blagosphere", the projects that students prepared in small groups were defended. Basically, participants on the examples of specific children elaborated on the themes of feeding, positioning, hospitalization, communication of a child with severe multiple developmental disorders. The works were evaluated by a commission consisting of teachers and course organizers. At the end of the training the employees of the "Yuzhnoe Butovo" TSSSV received certificates for passing the refresher courses from the Center for Childhood of the DTSZN of Moscow. In 2017 the "PROFLAB" course is implemented with the support of the Public Relations Committee of Moscow.

MAY 24: OUR WINNERS (COMPETITION FOR THE BEST "THE BOARD OF GOOD DEEDS"

Sharing sweets and toys with orphans, feeding a hungry dog, helping mom to bring a heavy bag and even collecting plastic caps for charity - these and other good deeds pursue the participants in our program "The Schoo of Charity. Lifestyle". At the end of the academic year we havev summed up the results of the "The Board of Good Deeds" competition among junior students and have awarded the winners. This year the participants of the program were the primary classes pupils of the two subdivisions of the School № 1357 (the «Bratislava» multi-profile complex). After a cycle of charity education lessons the children received a task: to create a special board and write all the good deeds down. The volunteers of the "School of Charity. Lifestyle" project have been following the mission for several months. Maria Lezhneva, the project coordinator, spoke about the benefits of this action for the schoolchildren: "We want the aspiration to do good deeds to become a lifestyle for children. It is not enough just to come to class, talk about charity and leave. Filling the boards of kindness, children think about what and how they do, learn to analyze their behavior, their actions. " The most common good deeds were associated with the help of animals: the guys fed kittens and puppies, made birdhouses. One of the pupils got a pet by participating in the action: the boy saw an injured stray dog on the train and decided to help her. Together with his parents he tried to find a place to live for the dog, but then the family became attached to the dog and took her into their house. The boy designed his story in the form of a comic book. When summing up the results, the jury evaluated the quantity and quality of good deeds, the originality of the presentation, the participation of children in charitable actions organized by the schools. "Charity begins at home" - the motto of the "School of Charity. Lifestyle" project. When choosing the winner, the acts which evince a will to help relatives: parents, friends and classmates and the involvement of the family in the good deeds of children were also taken into consideration.

MAY 19: WE CONGRATULATE OUR COLLEAGUES!

We congratulate our friends from the "Co-Unity" Foundation for the Support of deafblind
on the third anniversary!
These days the Foundation holds the third annual International Conference on the research of the problems of deafblind people. We thank our colleagues for the invitation and admire the level of organization of the event!
On May 18-19, independent researchers, teachers of defectology, pedagogical universities, scientists, employees of specialized institutions and organizations, as well as other concerned persons discussed many pressing topics. Among them: diagnostics of deafblindness, rehabilitation of deafblind people, inclusive theater as a means of communication, development of art accessible to people with visual and hearing impairments.
One of the main issues of the conference is how to train professionals who will be able to work with the deafblind. This topic is relevant for us. Together with the management of the fund, we decided to work together as part of the professional development program for the employees of the "PROFLAB" TSSSV. Already in September, our course will have a new direction, which will be led by experts from the "Co-Unity" fund.
