Garments for Kids

Our volunteers have brought along new infant clothes like vests, coveralls, crawlers, and tights to the Warm House. The Warm House is a lodge for women who were going to abandon a newborn or remove a child from the family for some reasons, for example when there is no place to live. At the Warm House the psychologist, social worker and lawyer create a rehabilitation environment helping women to become a careful mother and be prepared for an independent life outside the refuge.

Masha Sorina Exhibits Her Paintings

On November 27, Aidan Studio at the Winzavod launches an exhibition of paintings by Masha Sorina. Masha is fourteen and this is her fourth solo exhibition.

She began to paint when she was seven after a stroke and had to drop music and ballet classes. Masha draws pictures on any surface and even not quite suitable. She says: "When I'm sulky, I sit and paint and when I'm in a good humor, I sit and paint."

When creativity becomes a way of life, then "art ends, the soil and fate start to breathe."

In spite of her young and tender age, Masha is a real artist with her own, unique style. Anyone who once saw Masha's works, can distinguish her pictures from hundreds of others by her unrivalled perception of the world and inimitable expression as a mature music lover can always recognize the composer by few movements of a symphony, the conductor by the orchestra's sounds, the soloist by his playing style or a viewer the film's authors by the way they tell their stories or by techniques employed.

Masha Sorina is a rare type of artist who discovers rather than explores. Her canvases bring back a world existing in the depth of the soul and images buried in everyone. Only an inborn artist is capable of exposing them.

The exhibition will last three days along with a quiet auction of Masha's works. The proceeds will be channeled to a charity account opened for Masha Sorina.

Halloween at Home of ROST

The Home of ROST merrily celebrated Halloween. On November 2, our Foundation founders, director and volunteers arrived in the settlement of Petrovsky. Every corner of the Home was festooned with cobwebs, kids were wearing fearsome masks and, naturally, traditional pumpkins were grinning toothlessly. The glassy eyes of the dogs were staring at skeleton images on the walls.

In short, the celebration was grand and showed that even a "horror" environment could evoke a host of positive emotions!
